Algy paddled stoically around the rocky coast, riding on his lobster pot float, but as time passed he became increasingly exhausted. Eventually he spotted the pale shell sand of a fine Hebridean beach in the distance, and made one last effort to reach it. Just at the point when Algy felt he couldn’t possibly paddle any further, the strong incoming tide lifted up his float and washed him right up onto the shore. He tumbled off his float, and for a while he just lay there, with the waves rippling all around him …
