Thank You All!

Finding himself in an unusually odd environment for a fluffy bird, Algy selected a handy if rather uncomfortable perch, and opening his beak as widely as he could, he started to sing an ENORMOUS “THANK YOU!” song to all his incredible Tumblr friends who helped to make his 6th birthday so enjoyable yesterday – especially those who submitted wonderful images for his Amazing Tumblr Birthday Party on his sideblog @lovefromalgy, but also the many friends who watched and enjoyed the party, who made kind comments on his own and other people’s posts, and who sent him personal messages, good wishes and congratulations.

Algy was delighted to receive many contributions from brand new friends, who he hopes to know better very soon. But of course he was also thrilled and touched by the fantastic contributions from many of his long-standing friends, some of whom he has know for almost as long as he has been on Tumblr. So he sings at the top of his voice:

And he hopes that you can hear him all around the world…

Algy is now looking forward eagerly to his 7th year of adventures, and if you are wondering what he is doing in such a peculiar environment, he suggests that you follow his forthcoming adventure, which is just about to commence… 😀

Banana Splits, Anyone?

And, in due course, the moment which all Algy’s guests had been waiting for finally arrived…

There are banana splits for all Algy’s friends at Algy’s birthday party – with homemade vanilla ice cream, fresh banana and mango, dark chocolate and pecan nuts…

If you haven’t joined Algy’s Amazing Tumblr Birthday Party yet, hurry on over to – you’re not too late 🙂

Happy Birthday, Algy!

Happy Birthday Algy !!!

The morning of Algy’s birthday was rather dull and damp, and the Scotch mist was hovering over the hills, threatening to make the world a great deal damper, but Algy didn’t care. It was his birthday, and time to celebrate…

As all his friends know, Algy is a mature and discerning fluffy bird who delights in reading poetry, but he also loves toys, so he was thrilled to find many colourful and silly things to play with among his birthday gifts 🙂

Algy sends you all lots of very fluffy hugs, and invites you all to join his joyful birthday celebrations over on his sideblog @lovefromalgy xoxo

Algy was feeling very excited, because the next day was his birthday, and he was going to host a big Tumblr party for all his friends 🙂

[To join in the fun, just send Algy a link to a post you would like to share with him on his birthday, or use the lovefromalgy submission form. If you are submitting an image, be sure to select Photo from the pop-down menu at top left of the submission form, which defaults to Text. Algy’s party will run all day and into the night on 13th March, on his sideblog @lovefromalgy.]

In the meantime, Algy had to wait patiently for the big day to arrive… Luckily, it was a beautiful morning, and once the frost had melted it felt almost warm in the early spring sunshine. All the crocuses opened their faces with enormous smiles to greet the sun, and even the daffodils were beginning to think timidly about showing their petals. So Algy settled himself down among the flowers and opened his battered old copy of Longfellow’s poems. Turning to page 10, he read:

When the warm sun, that brings
Seed-time and harvest, has returned again,
’Tis sweet to visit the still wood, where springs
The first flower of the plain.

I love the season well,
When forest glades are teeming with bright forms,
Nor dark and many-folded clouds foretell
The coming-on of storms.

From the earth’s loosened mould
The sapling draws its sustenance, and thrives;
Though stricken to the heart with winter’s cold,
The drooping tree revives.

The softly-warbled song
Comes from the pleasant woods, and colored wings
Glance quick in the bright sun, that moves along
The forest openings.

Don’t miss Algy’s party on @lovefromalgy tomorrow!

[Algy is reading the opening stanzas of the poem An April Day by the 19th century American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.]

One of the guests at Algy’s Magical Midwinter Star party decided to try a special dance which is described in Algy’s book The Magical Midwinter Star 🙂

The first person who REBLOGS this GIF together with A CAPTION INCLUDING THE NAME OF THAT DANCE from Algy’s book will win a signed paperback copy of The Magical Midwinter Star.

Sorry – but the three people who have already won copies of the book by entering the Photo Challenge may not win another copy. Just one book per person 🙂

There are still 2 prizes left in the Photo Challenge at the time of posting this GIF…
