A Fluffy Bird Prayer…

Adventures-of-Algy-180617.jpg

Algy perched in a wild rose bush and gazed at the pretty flowers, which surrounded him with a delicate but lovely perfume in the cool, damp mist.

Many terrible things had been happening in Britain recently, as well as in other parts of the world, and although Algy’s home is far removed from the places in which they occurred, Algy had been as much affected by all the dreadful news as everyone else. So he bowed his head quietly and said a fluffy bird prayer for all the poor people caught up in the horror of the fires, terrorism, and acts of violence and war, both at home and abroad, and he sends everyone lots of very special extra fluffy hugs today xoxoxo

Have a Peaceful, Safe and Happy Week

Algy moved close to the water and gazed at the waves as they rolled up against the rocks. In a world of constant trouble and strife, the perpetual motion of the sea provided a perfect antidote – even though Algy knew that the ocean itself held plenty of dangers for creatures not adapted to living in it…

But despite the perils of the deep, perching on a rock on a fine day, just watching the ever-changing pattern of motion and listening to all the wonderful sounds that the sea made, was profoundly soothing. In Algy’s opinion, this was a perfect way to spend an afternoon… a fluffy bird’s idea of peace and contentment 🙂

Algy wishes you all a peaceful, safe and happy week ahead xoxo

adventuresofalgy:

The moon shone brightly on the calm waters of the quiet loch, and lit up the clouds as they scurried across the cold night sky.

Algy perched on a branch near the water, just listening to the lap lap lap of the water on the stony shore, so different from the noisy pounding of the ocean waves on his own sandy beach. It was peaceful beside the loch on such a beautiful night, and Algy was thinking of one or two of his special friends who celebrate their birthdays this weekend. He sends them extra special fluffy birthday hugs, and hopes that they will have a truly happy time 🙂

Have a peaceful and happy weekend, everybody xoxo

Happy Birthday dear Shelia @bluelunaphotography xx

A little bird told Algy that you were celebrating your birthday today, and so he sends you his bluest moon adventure and lots of very fluffy hugs xoxo

For the PWS @photosworthseeing New Year Special “That One Moment” – with lots of very fluffy hugs to all Algy’s friends at PWS, and his fluffiest thanks to the PWS team for organising yet another wonderful event xoxo

Algy’s special moment of 2016 was back in July, on an unusually summery day. Algy made his way through a lovely patch of woodland to a beautiful lochan fringed with wild water lilies, where everything was peaceful, calm and sunny – a rare treat in the West Highlands of Scotland! And…

Algy hopped down to the water’s edge and perched on a clump of lush green grass. Leaning forward, he peered down deep into the blue water, trying to see whether he could spot a frog among the water lilies, but although he looked as hard as he could, there was no sign of his amphibian friends. Then suddenly he noticed a wee movement on the soggy ground beside him. Several tiny froglets were making their way clumsily towards the shelter of the grasses, their spindly legs stumbling over the matted roots. Algy wished them well, and hoped they would have a safe journey…

Algy is posting this illustration from his new book especially for all his dear friends in Berlin and other parts of Germany.

He is so terribly sad that a tiny minority of human beings seem to be such cruel monsters, and they make the world appear such a dark place. But Algy never forgets that the vast majority of humans are really kind – including so many of his dear Tumblr friends – and that there are far, far more people in the world who go out of their way to do good and help others than there are who deliberately do harm.

Algy hopes that even in these times of darkness, you will always see the light that continues to shine. Algy loves you all, and sends you lots of extra special fluffy hugs xoxo

[This illustration by Jenny Chapman is from Chapter 4 of Algy’s new book The Magical Midwinter Star.]

p.s. Algy apologises for using the “photographers on tumblr” tag for an image which is not photographic, but many of his German Tumblr friends follow that tag and he wants to make sure that they see this post 🙂

Algy is reposting this image for all his good friends in the USA and around the world who are feeling shock, despair and depression today.

No matter how things may seem in dark times, Algy knows that the majority of human creatures are good and kind. He has seen so many posts already today from the wonderful Tumblr community he shares – some are frightened, some despairing, some shocked, and some simply promoting hope and love. Algy sends you all lots of extra special fluffy hugs at this time. Even when things look dark, there must always be light too, and Algy sees a great deal of light in this wonderful community.

Be strong, stay safe, and remain in the light! Peace, love and fluffy hugs to you all xoxo

Algy felt as though he were floating in a sea of green… He leaned back upon the soft, straggly heather bush and listened to the gentle sounds of the woodland all around him. From time to time the quiet was disturbed by the harsh call of some invisible bird in the tall trees high above, or by the splash of a leaping fish in the lochan, but for the most part everything was hushed and still in the calm of the sleepy summer afternoon…
